A junior product technologist is required to manage the technical & quality processes for children and adult accessories including knitted and woven products.
You will be part of a small technical team working closely with design, account management, Quality Control and the manufacturers.
Your will be to work with the relevant stakeholders to ensure products are developed and produced to comply with EU/UK/customer safety legislation, are fit for purpose, fits to specifications, adheres to customer and industry standards.
Liaising with the product managers/buyers and designers to ensure product/design/concept is risk assessed considering safety, quality, testing cost, viability of design etc
To manage customer expectations by attending meetings to fit the products, agree risk assessment, agree testing requirements and keep the customer updated and consulted as required.
To ensure the product safety and consistent quality performance is assured at the start of the product cycle and exceeds customer’s expectation by:
Providing clear, accurate, concise feedback to the manufacturers on development, pre-production and production sample to aid a “Right First Time” approach, timely sample developments, timely customer approval and on time deliveries.
To provide technical expertise across the customer account, providing technical guidance to colleagues, customers and team members
To keep updated on current & changing legislation, technical changes, customer requirements and industry standards
To update the relevant stakeholders such as designers, product managers, factory contact, technical team on pertinent innovations so these can be considered during design and development
Areas of responsibilities:
* Manage the sealing process – preparation and sample review
* Attend fit meetings with customers
* Update and maintain workbooks and communicate comments to Chinese factories
* Create size specifications
* Work with construction standards & technical manuals
* Perform construction and product risk assessments
* Assess, manage, submit and review the testing of products
* Issue wash care and label information for packaging
* Monitor and record product status using the critical path
* Assess QC results and agree with QC team on required actions
* Support the factory compliance programme
This role will involve travel in the UK and may involve travel to China
You will report to the Technical, QA and Compliance Manager
At least 2 years’ experience of working in a similar role
Ability to manage multiple tasks and to work to tight deadlines

Hours 8:30am to 5pm Mon to Thursday and 8:30am to 12.45pm Friday
