Role Purpose: How it adds value The Product Developer is accountable for the progression of ranges through the development, sampling & bulk programme.Ensuring that corporate calendar deadlines are met & that samples & bulk orders are made to standard & delivered to schedule. Deliverables: Criteria/Results by which success can be measured Development Programme – Working closely with Buying, Product and Design to build & develop ranges, gaining an in-depth understanding of suppliers’ capabilities & strengths. With Junior buyer and Product to carry out store visits to review to build an awareness of the competition & latest technical advances in the market. Liase with designers & be accountable for the generation of initial design specification, issue to suppliers& monitor that samples are made to standard & to calendar deadlines, keep development tracking sheets fully updated. When required carry out development trips to Asia with design colleagues, ensure that during development trips any development sample comments are fully understood by our suppliers. Have an understanding of “Reach” & other EU regulations & the impact on development of ranges. Ensure photographic samples are ordered, made to standard & arrive to schedule. Garmentconstruction, blocks & grading Work with Product Developers to ensure that correct blocks and grading are used on ranges. Run a wearer trail programme using consumers and athletes. Salesman Sample Programme – Be accountable for actioning any styling changes by making appropriate amendments to salesman sample specifications & informing supplier base.Following up any QC issues directly with our suppliers & when required carry out pre salesman sample approvals on trips to Asia. With the assistance of a Production Controller chase the on time arrival of salesman samples, ensuring PDM tracking sheets are fully updated & samples arrive to the deadlines agreed on the Product Dept Corporate Calendar. Generate F/C label artwork, placing onto nominated accessory supplier websites & any internal product databases. Bulk OrdersProgramme - Ensure the smooth transition from sampling programme to bulk specification, attend development & salesman sample fit meetings offering technical support & solutions. Accountable for the accuracy of bulk specifications & supplier understanding of company standards. In liaison with the Asia offices approve any samples required to be submitted to the UK office for fitting, carry out a detailed handover post salesman sample programme to ensure the Asia offices fully understand what action needs to be taken by suppliers both pre & during bulk production. Throughout the pre production & production phase of the critical path be a support & guide to the Asia office teams. Review supplier AQL’s alongside Quality Controller & issue permission to ship emails, during Asia trips carry out bulk inspections & training of Asia QC colleagues. Liase closely with the Quality Controller to ensure bulk orders have under gone & passed final AQL checks in an Asia or UK warehouse, when necessary personally carry out bulk qc checks in UK w/h to improve your knowledge of suppliers quality levels. Training & mentoring of QC teams both in Asia & the UK to ensure same standard of QC checking is being followed by both the UK & Asia QC teams.

Deliverables: Criteria/Results by which success can be measured Salesman Sample Programme – Work in close liaison with buying team colleagues to ensure salesman samples are made to design brief & to corporate calendar deadlines. Gain understanding of the styles within therange, suppliers strengths & sample critical path lead-times & to use this knowledge to constantly review waypoint deadlines & proactively solve any obstacles to the on time delivery of sample ranges. When required assist with the updating of fabric information within PDM, making clear to the Asia office teams & suppliers what needs to be lap dipped & by when. Raise fabric orders on PDM & liase with Asia office teams regarding delivery. Raise Garment orders on PDM, Keeping PDM critical path updated, working closely with suppliers on sampling updates. Ensuring all components & approvals are made to schedule & that production start dates & arrival K&N port dates are achieved. Carry out regular reviews of salesman sample critical path with Manager & link in closely with imports on delivery dates to K&N at origin.Alerting the imports team to any short or split shipments & confirm what action has been agreed with suppliers. When required provided DOT reporting information & attend meetings with Product Office Manager to identify any delivery issues that need to be reported to the business. Buying Preparation Under the direction of the Snr Buyer generate buying programmes, summaries & product set up information ensuring all information has been entered correctly. Production Controller to generate trims page information held within PDM specifications, cross referencing data held within costing letters, buying programmes & bulk orders. Undertake when required any local or nominated accessory development, linking closely with other teams to ensure on time development & price confirmation. Purchasing: Carry out regular reviews of factory loading liasing with Product Dept colleagues both in Asia & the UK. Foreseeing any capacity issues & proactively offering solutions & reporting issues to Product dept management team. With production controller colleagues maintain factory capacities & adjust when necessary. Attend merchandising meetings be fully prepared & able to confidently assign orders to supplier loadings. Follow up on any loading concerns with your manager that need to be highlighted to the planning team in post merchandise meetings. Raise garment bulk orders accurately within the agreed deadline,checking all reporting tools (PDM, RG156 & merchandising system) for accuracy of information held with them.Ensure order which appears on supplier website is checked to confirm that the order has progressed through the new merchandising system correctly. Maintain & update fabric greige schedules when required & have clear understanding of greige levels at all times. With production controller colleagues notify Asia colleagues & suppliers of changes. Carry out seasonal handover of styles assigned to the Asia offices for bulk critical path monitoring. Production Control Production controller is accountable with UK Production Controller team for management of waypoints on systems used to monitor the bulk & salesman sample critical paths.PDM salesman sample waypoints need to be set seasonally to the corporate calendar deadlines. Production Controller is to liase regularly with Production Controller colleagues to ensure factory capacity levels are accurate at a times, adjusting when necessary & alerting Senior Product management team when orders rise above capacity levels set. UK Production Controller is the link between Asia Merchandisers & UK office planning team.The Production controller will build strong relationship with Asia office colleagues, carrying out weekly critical path meetings to ensure AS400 is providing accurate arrival K&N origin port delivery dates. When necessary report to planning any delivery issues, have in depth understanding of the issue, factory loading status & possible solutions to be able to effectively liaison with the planning team on delivery priorities. Provide suppliers instructions on any airfreights & where applicable ensure supplier compensation is agreed. Linking closely with UK imports team on delivery delays, airfreight requests & planning priorities. When required provided DOT reporting information & partake in meetings to analyse supplier delivery performance. Trading Standards – Ensure style files are kept fully up to date inline with what could be required by Trading standards. Efficiency & Communication Have an understanding of departmental business plan & corporate calendar. Gain an in depth understanding of the product, when possible attend fit meetings, review QC figures & liase closely with your PD team colleagues.When required carry out AQL in UK warehouse to build awareness of suppliers weakness & strengths from a QC perspective. Be aware of Reach & other EU regulations & when required offer support to the department on ensuring they follows guidelines. Offer support to the buying team to ensure the smooth of progression of styles through the sampling & bulk critical paths. Key tasks for the role include: Deal with your retail accounts and far east on a daily basis. The preparation of orders and production information To organise lab dips both submission and approval To arrange fabric testing to customer requirements Liaising with other members of the team to ensure correct fit, quality and construction of garments Liaising with factories and suppliers on a daily basis The preparation of import documentation The ideal candidate will have a good level of import merchandising experience and be looking to make that next career step. Ideal candidate will have lots of previous experience and ideally will have worked within a UK based importer environment who supply the high street. The role will comprise of: Costing at factories Placing of orders Chasing and approving sales and production samples QA which constists of measure, wash test, rub test, general checking of garment. Maintaning of critical path Chasing shipments of orders Booking in with customers when garments arrive Liasing with factories, customers and working closely with design, garment tech and sales.
