Job Description:
As an Entry Level Garment Technologist, you will assist in the development and production of garments, ensuring that they meet the company’s quality standards and specifications. You will work closely with the design, production, and senior garment technologists to bring new designs from concept to finished product.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sample Development: Assist in creating and reviewing garment samples, ensuring they meet design specifications and quality standards.
- Technical Specifications: Help in the preparation and maintenance of detailed technical specifications and measurement charts for garments.
- Fit Sessions: Participate in fit sessions to evaluate the fit, drape, and construction of garments. Provide feedback and suggest improvements.
- Fabric and Trim Selection: Collaborate with the design team to select appropriate fabrics and trims, considering functionality, cost, and quality.
- Quality Control: Assist in the inspection of incoming samples and production batches, identifying any defects or deviations from the approved specifications.
- Vendor Communication: Communicate with suppliers and manufacturers to resolve technical issues and ensure timely delivery of samples and production orders.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all technical data, sample approvals, and production specifications.
- Trend Analysis: Stay updated on industry trends, new fabrics, and construction techniques.
Qualifications:
- Education: A degree or diploma in fashion technology, garment technology, textile technology, or a related field.
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, and fabric properties. Proficiency in using CAD software is a plus.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for quality and accuracy.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical team members.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing issues.
Experience:
- Internships/Placement: Previous internships or placement experience in garment technology / product development or a related field is advantageous.
