Maternity Cover Import Merchandiser

North Manchester

12 month contract

Salary £25k-£28k dependant on experience

The role will involve: –

  • Working to ensure a smooth critical path process from order placement through to delivery.
  • Working to internal critical paths and managing dates.
  • Raising and placing PO’s with the factory.
  • Collating customer packaging details for every order.
  • Approving packaging label/artwork.
  • Checking and measuring samples.
  • Arranging test reports.
  • Daily contact and communication with numerous Far East factories.
  • Working on a variation of products.
  • Responding to customer emails.
  • Maintaining and building excellent customer relationships.
  • Skills required: –
  • Experience in a similar role is essential (minimum 3-5 years preferably).
  • Proficient in Microsoft, especially Excel.
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced and pressurised environment.
  • Superb eye for detail.
  • Confident problem solver who can identify potential issues before they arise.
  • Successful at building customer relationships.

Our client is currently looking for a Senior Garment Tech or Current Manager to step in to a Head of Garment Tech role.

Working closely with Buying, Design, Marketing aswell as with Suppliers and factories.

The right candidate will be able to strategically execute the vision of the garments in the most commercial way, ensure that the fit and sealing process is accurate and on time, whilst also being able to strategically identify through sales and returns best and worst practice and implement processes and solutions as a result.      

The ideal candidate will have:

Experience of managing a team

Experience and success of managing workflow and output of a tech department.

Multi product experience from knitwear, jersey and woven to denim, leather, and outerwear

Highly skilled technically, with both a detailed but commercial eye and experience of executing all technical details involved in the process of producing clothing.

Understanding of how different fabrics behave.

Ability to work very quickly, whilst maintaining quality and accuracy. 

Experience of working with suppliers overseas. Must be able to work with suppliers clearly and effectively to build relationships and liaise on all technical matters efficiently.

Interpersonal skills be able to collaborate across all other departments.

Garment Technologist – Woven’s Womenswear

Salary £25k – £28k

Location Manchester

Garment Technologist – The Role:

  • You will be involved in sampling and approval of garments and all technical aspects associated with product. 
  • To ensure each product is per company standards.
  • Manage size specifications and produce detailed tech packs 
  • Ensure samples through to production costs meet client cost expectations.
  • To handle the comments/approvals process and resolve technical/quality issues.
  • Manage communication between internal teams and the factories.

Garment Technologist – The Candidate:

  • With approx. 3 to 4 year’s experience within multi product Woven Womenswear
  • Good technical knowledge of construction and fitting as well as manufacturing methods.
  • Experienced in handling comments/approvals process and any technical/quality issues.
  • Highly competent IT skills
  • Confident communication skills, the ability to work to critical path deadlines.
  • Ability to manage own workload and a team player.
  • Relevant degree.
  • Experience with testing and compliance
  • Working within a busy and very supportive team.

Design Engineer

Location Merseyside

Ideal candidate may have approx 2 years experience as a Garment Tech, Product Developer or on Gerber.



Working in a fast moving, high pressure, procedure driven environment, the main focus of a Design Engineer will include the design and development of new products, introducing major changes to existing products and producing technical documentation to support the product through qualification and production. The Design Engineer will be expected to design products in accordance with a customer design brief, which will be subjected to rigorous testing in line with the intended end use, whilst designing a product which is fit for mass production.


Analysis of customer requirements. 
Development of design concepts.  
Detailed pattern design using GERBER.
Participation in design reviews and customer meetings.
Preparation of design documentation.
Create detailed design drawings using AutoCAD and photography.
Support manufacturing sites through New Product Introduction activities.
Support prototype development working closely with machinists.
Participate in Design for Manufacture reviews.
Technical liaison (Internal business meetings, Sales support, Tender support).
Hold technical reviews with suppliers to optimise design for quality and cost. 
Provide customer support as required throughout the development process.
Support testing events, on-site and off-site.

A established and reputable fashion clothing company based in Manchester now have an exciting new job opportunity for an Import Merchandiser to join one of their own brands.

With this brand currently going through a massive growth we now need an Import Merchandiser who can work closely with the Designer and Technical team.

You will work closely with Buyers from know fashion websites as well as our own website.

Covering mens and Ladieswear product.

Raising orders to factories

Managing Critical Path 

Attending meetings in London with the customer 

Working with the design team on approvals 

Checking reports for the Buyer and preparing stock figures 

Working closely with overseas factories and liaising via email and telephone. 

Preparing technical packs to be sent out to the factories 

Checking samples and assisting the QC when required
Fantastic opportunity for someone with 18 months plus experience and a passionate individual who loves fashion.
