Assistant Merchandiser

Salary range £22k – £24k

Our client is now recruiting for an Assistant Merchandiser to join the team. Supporting with the day to day running of our key supplier accounts, you will support the Merchandiser and Junior Merchandiser with forecasting, analysis, planning and KPI management.

Person specification:

We will only be proceeding forward with candidates who match our essential requirements stated below:

  • A proven/experienced AM, or a MA / MAA looking for progression and development
  • Experience working within a fast-paced Beauty/Retail/FMCG environment
  • Analytically minded and commercially aware
  • Excellent communication skills, highly organised with strong Excel ability
  • Ideally will have experience working with a store estate and branded goods

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and assess reports / information for Weekly Trading Meetings and Product Meetings.
  • Compiling forecasts and proposing replenishment buys across set Brands.
  • Line card forecasting and support in long-term planning for key trading moments.
  • Support in newness opening orders and roll out of launches.
  • Range Plan management and participation in Range Reviews, including rationalisation of ranges at Brand level to ensure optimised ranges.
  • Produce and analyse weekly reports for the Buying and Merchandising team.
  • Support in driving through Overstocks or Discontinued stock strategy by monitoring slow sellers and proposing the appropriate actions.
  • Review product availability, assess issues and propose actions with the goal of improving availability and providing solutions.

Junior Merchandiser

Salary range £24k – £28k

Our client is on a steep growth track, having developed within the Beauty category, new customer demographic groups that will come with niche and more premium brands, and into new international markets and we are looking for a Junior Merchandiser to join us at this exciting time.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and assess reports / information for Weekly Trading Meetings and Product Meetings. Update weekly MI with action led insights.
  • Ownership of set Brands, developing meaningful relationships with Brands through participating in weekly catch up calls, Brand reviews & bi-annual Strategy meetings; along with Buying counterpart.
  • Management of Supplier WSSI’s and managing effective intake, aligned to agreed cover levels.
  • Forecast management, including Brand forecasts, intake forecasts and Line Card forecasts.
  • Management of weekly replenishment.
  • Newness opening orders and roll out of launches of set Brands. Monitoring sell-thru, distribution and stock levels of newness and ensuring sales are maximised.
  • Manage AM day-to-day tasks, lead 121’s with AM and coach and develop AM.
  • Range Plan management and ownership of set Brands in Range Reviews, including rationalisation of ranges at Brand level to ensure optimised ranges and appropriate distribution.
  • Driving through Overstocks or Discontinued stock strategy by monitoring slow sellers and driving through the appropriate actions.
  • Review product availability, assess issues and propose actions with the goal of improving availability and providing solutions.
  • Deputise for Senior Merchandiser when required.

Necessary requirements:

  • Currently working as, a JM or as an AM ready for the next step
  • Analytically minded and commercially aware
  • Highly organised and ability to prioritise workload
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build meaningful relationships with key stakeholders
  • Strong Excel ability and experience using MS Office computer package

Merchandiser

Salary range £30k – £38k

Overseeing the day to day running of the team you will support the Head of Merchandising with the ownership of forecasting, store replenishment, planning, ranging and availability; plus, the management and ongoing development of the Merchandising Assistants and Assistant Merchandisers.

  • Experience of managing a team within a fast-paced Beauty/Retail/FMCG environment
  • Experience managing replenishment across a large store estate

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day to day running of the team and assist the Head of Merchandising where required.
  • Ownership of despatch planning, stockholding management in our central warehouse and external warehouse, ranging and availability.
  • Management of store grading and company replenishment parameters; ensuring that these are aligned to availability and stock targets.
  • Overseeing New Store Openings critical path and ensuring that the ranging and stock-in process runs smoothly.
  • Reacting to sales and changes in the market, ensuring sales are maximised and KPI’s are met.
  • Providing strategic inputs in order to aid development of departmental processes & reporting.
  • Management and development of Merchandising Assistants and Assistant Merchandisers.
  • Attend and on occasions lead weekly or monthly meetings, providing influence where necessary and ensuring that analysis and reporting is completed beforehand.
  • Manage Supplier Scorecard reviews, with the aim of driving improvement through establishing positive ways of working with our Suppliers.

Assistant Buyer

Salary range £40k – £50k

Role Overview

As part of a multi-channel retail business with ambitious growth plans, you will work alongside the buying and merchandising team to ensure smooth running of the department. Experience as a Buyer is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop the beauty category strategy in line with our customer values.
  • Continue to identity brands to add to the new brand pipeline, from selection through to go live.
  • Own the Product costing process to ensure company margin plan is achieved
  • Work closely with NPD and Product Innovation teams to put together a market-leading own brand range
  • Create annual business plans with the brands, in conjunction with the Trade Partnership teams to drive strong and relevant brand SOV.
  • Support & lead the buying team in the day to day running.
  • Work cross functionally with Marketing, E-Commerce & Retail to agree compelling and innovative trade plans in order to drive market share growth.
  • You will also handle complex negotiations and to set / manage budgets to deliver sales against target.

Required Experience and Skills

  • You will have 2 years Health & Beauty Trading / Buying experience in a Multi-channel retail environment.
