Mid Weight Activewear Designer – Menswear

Mid Weight Activewear Designer

This role is based on-site Full time in Central Manchester.

This brand has established itself in the outdoor market through both wholesale and DTC channels and is now going through a period of exceptional growth. In order to facilitate this, a new designer with relevant industry experience is required to support the team.

The designer for this brand must have experience working on activewear with an excellent understanding of colour, fabric and construction. You will bring newness and design vision to each collection, as well as understanding the commercial needs of the business.

Your role will be to produce inspiration research, design into both seasonal and SMU collections creating detailed tech packs across jersey, woven and outerwear. You will be reporting into the Head of Design working closely with a team of designers and product developers.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Research new colours, trims and fabrics, producing mood boards
  • Generate seasonal trip and trend reports
  • Design exciting seasonal collections in line with research and direction provided
  • Work with key accounts on SMU packs
  • Produce sketches, technical drawings and tech packs in adobe illustrator with a high attention to detail
  • Handover tech packs to the product development team, ensuring that key design details are translated.
  • Liase with the product development team on the fit of samples
  • Mentor junior members of the team, and assist senior members of the team as required

Experience Required

 

  • 2 years minimum experience working for a sports brand
  • A thorough understanding of the activewear and outdoor wear market
  • Have a portfolio demonstrating work relevant for this role
  • Strong working knowledge of the adobe suite is essential
  • Excellent time management skills

Experienced Streetwear Designer Menswear

Manchester City Centre – Office based role (no hybrid)

Streetwear Designer

Having launched in 2023 this brand is experiencing rapid growth and in order to facilitate this, a new designer with relevant industry experience is required to support the team.

The designer for this brand must have an in depth knowledge in fabric, colour and trims across multi product including jersey, woven and outerwear. The design process for this role is very much collaborative,  previous experience working on collaborations and with music artists would be preferred.

Your role will be to produce and follow supplied inspiration with the ability to translate this into commercial collections. You will be reporting into the Head of Design working closely with a team of designers and product developers.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design exciting seasonal collections in line with research and direction provided
  • Have an in depth knowledge of current and past streetwear trends

Knitwear Designer ( Ladieswear)

Job Title: Knitwear Fashion Designer

Responsibilities:

  1. Design Conceptualisation: Develop innovative and creative knitwear design concepts aligned with current fashion trends.

  2. Material Selection: Source and select appropriate yarns and materials for knitwear, considering quality, cost, and sustainability.

  3. Technical Drawings: Create detailed technical drawings and specifications for production, ensuring accurate communication with manufacturers.

  4. Pattern Development: Design and create knitwear patterns, considering garment structure, fit, and aesthetics.

  5. Prototype Oversight: Collaborate with production teams to oversee the creation of prototypes, ensuring they align with the design vision.

  6. Market Research: Stay abreast of fashion trends, consumer preferences, and competitor offerings to inform design decisions.

  7. Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including merchandising, marketing, garment technology and production, to ensure a cohesive product line.

Requirements:

  1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field.

  2. Experience: Proven experience as a Knitwear Fashion Designer with a portfolio showcasing successful designs.

  3. Technical Skills: Proficiency in design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator), knowledge of knitting machines, and an understanding of garment construction.

  4. Creativity: Strong creative vision and the ability to translate concepts into marketable knitwear designs.

  5. Communication: Excellent communication skills to effectively convey design ideas and collaborate with internal teams and manufacturers.

  6. Adaptability: Ability to adapt to evolving design trends and industry changes.

  7. Detail-Oriented: Meticulous attention to detail in both design and quality control processes.

Knitwear Garment Technologist

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Garment Technologist to join our clients team. The Garment Technologist will be responsible for ensuring that all products meet our high standards of quality and safety. The successful candidate will work closely with our design and production teams to ensure that products are developed and produced efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the design team to ensure that all products meet the required quality standards.
  • Develop technical specifications and review sample garments to ensure that they meet the required quality standards.
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure that materials and components meet our quality standards.
  • Ensure that all products meet safety standards and compliance requirements.
  • Work closely with the production team to ensure that products are developed and produced efficiently and effectively.
  • Conduct fit sessions and make necessary adjustments to patterns and samples to ensure that garments fit correctly.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure that products are produced to the required quality standards.
  • Manage and maintain product testing records and report results to the relevant teams.
  • Continuously review and improve product development and production processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Garment Technologist, preferably in the apparel industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of garment construction techniques and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong understanding of fabric properties and testing methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office .

Import Merchandiser Administration Assistant

Manchester

Salary £20k-£21k with a review in the first year.

Our client a reputable and very successful supplier is currently looking for an Import Merchandiser Administration Assistant to join there busy knitwear department.

Responsibilities

Provide essential support to Merchandiser team, supporting with the day-to-day administration duties.

Work closely with Far East suppliers – raising & sending POs, chasing production sample, lab dips and ensuring factories are adhering to agreed delivery dates.

Manage all incoming samples by means of labelling / distributing /tracking.

Assist with reviewing sales performance and action rebuy / markdown where required.

Takes ownership of the critical path management and takes appropriate action on issues when they arise.

Approve packing lists, scan barcodes and authorise orders to ship.

Collate samples for photoshoots and maintain the photo tracker.

Monitor showroom product ensuring necessary updates.

Liaise closely with Senior Merchandiser, Dept Manager and QC Teams daily.

Assists colleagues by completing tasks outside of own job role when requested.

Strong commercial awareness with an eye for understanding current trends and fashion that is driving sales.
